Rolling with the Phatness
My wife called me up at work today. Our daughter had been to our annual heart-checkup at the hospital (she had major heart surgery when she was an infant) and although the operation itself was a success there was a small hole left, and it was impossible to tell how it would affect her when she grew up. At the scanning today the doctor told us that the remaining hole had closed up. Yeehaw – way to go girl!
This had me pretty much bursting with energy for the remainder of the work day. I spent it playing around with CouchDB and Scala. Both wicked (like wicked) good examples of quality software design where you can just tell that a huge deal of thinking was spend by a lot of bright people. Can’t wait to continue my adventures here.
While driving home the sun was shining and I had the windows down and the car stereo blasting No Diggity by Blackstreet, the newly purchased Wii Sports Resort safely on the passenger seat, and was simply having a blast. I wore the T-Shirt my wife gave me for my thirtieth. It says Rockstar Programmer

That’s so wonderful to hear that the remaining hole from your daughter’s operation has closed up! =)
Also, have fun with Wii Sports Resort! Had the chance to play it at a friend’s house and it was an absolute blast to play.

Congrats on the kid. It’s great to hear that everything will be fine from now on. She’s a tough little girl. Great news.
And I hope you enjoy Wii Sports Resort – get some training in over the weekend, and then I can challenge you to a game of Table Tennis in a lunch break next week

I must admit that out of all the guys at the office, you truly are the best candidate for being a rockstar programmer.
Sincerely,
The groupie

Super news about your daughter. Your post with all its joy and Phatness served as a regular pick-me-up for me after a rough morning:-)
