When I wrote Help Me Do l337 Tricks I kinda promised to write a tool to do these l337 tricks. Well, it was a bumpy road, but thanks to the usual gang of super heroes (Vincent, Elijah, Thomas – you know who you are) who helped me stomp out a few bugs in metacity and libwnck, I now have a working tool.

You need both Metacity and libwnck trunk to get this stuff running. Anyway – I did not promise to write a nice shrink wrapped tool, an I guarantee that it is far from it. Without further ado I present WinWrangler. There’s a bzr repo here:

No release yet, that wil come soonish. I just want to add hotkey support to it first so you don’t have to use manually wired shortcuts via Metacity’s gconf keys.

If you are itching to try out this toy it is probably easiest to run src/winwrangler-tray. It will give you a tray icon (don’t flame me, this is only an intermediate solution) where you can right click and select tile or expand
